◘○○Poème d'équerre○○◘
Pythagore
Un beau soir d’hiver
Parlait tout bas :
« Tout s’endort,
Inventons l’équerre
Ou l’angle droit.
Quelque chose
Dans l’obscurité,
Me parle, muse…
Et suppose
– Divine clarté !... –
L’hypoténuse ! »
Le vieil homme
S’en tordit la barbe,
Tel un dément.
Depuis, comme
A New-York ou Tarbes
De bâtiments,
D’édifices,
Par ce théorème
On construisit !
« Ô mon fils,
Dit l’Être Suprême,
Cela suffit :
Un peu d’or
Tombe sur la Terre :
L’aurore est là. »
Pythagore
Fermait les paupières,
Dormant déjà.
○○○ Poem of setsquare ◘⃞◘
Pythagoras
In a nice winter night
Was whispering :
"All fall asleep,
Invent the setsquare,
Or the right angle.
Something
In darkness,
Is speaking to me, Muse...
And suppose
-Holy shine !...-
Hypotenuse !"
The Elderly man
Twisted his beard
Like an insane
Since then, as
New-York or Tarbes
Of buildings
Of edifices,
With this theorem
We built !
"O my son,
Said the Supreme Being,
This is enough :
Some gold
Is falling to the Earth :
Dawn is here."
Pythagoras
Closed his eyelids,
Already a s l e e p .
